Go to properties, and you should find an option to launch in 640X480 or something like that, and then reseting the resolution ingame if you want to. Is the resolution setting out of whack? If the game didn't launch, this could be the problem. Have you tried runing it in safe and administrator mode? You can get to those by right clicking the icon, in Vista at least.
